This tureen dates to the second half of the 19th century — approximately 1860–1895 — and belongs to the Victorian era Historicism style with strong Chinoiserie and Delftware Revival influences. A monumental oval covered tureen — the classic form for serving soup or braised dishes at a formal table. Made of white faience with a bright glaze; the entire exterior is covered with a dense blue-and-white transfer-print ornament arranged in two decorative bands: the upper register features delicate floral scrollwork and acanthus tendrils, while the lower register bears large paisley and peony motifs. The lid surface is decorated with a dense floral pattern incorporating peacock-tail elements and lace-like ornamental work. The lid knob is shaped as a standing double scroll with matching blue decoration. The side handles of the body are elegantly rolled. Both the lid rim and body opening are finished with a decorative leaf-shaped scalloped edge.
