This cachepot belongs to the rich transitional era of the Second French Empire and early Third Republic — a period between approximately 1860 and 1890 — when French decorative porcelain reached its representational zenith. Historicism still governed the form and compositional logic: a rectangular body, symmetrical cartouches, and gilt volute ornamentation. Yet the lightness of the painted scenes, the vivid celestial blue ground, and the red-and-white floral bouquets already speak of the sensuous poeticism that would soon evolve into the Art Nouveau aesthetic. This object belongs precisely to that fertile transitional moment when Historicism still held architectural order, while a romantic-naturalistic taste was already filling every white reserve with a living, flowering world.
