This elegant wall mirror and console set in carved wood belongs to the Neo-Rococo tradition — a period when Italian craftsmen reproduced the airiness and theatrical richness of 18th-century Rococo forms with great artistic mastery. The set was created in Italy in the mid-20th century — a time when Florentine and Venetian cabinetmaking workshops maintained a high tradition of Rococo revival, producing pieces often difficult to distinguish from 18th-century originals.

Both the mirror frame and the console corps are crafted from wood with a gilded gesso coating — the characteristic Italian doratura technique. The entire surface is covered with a fine craquelure — a crackle effect — that lends the set an authentic old master patina. The mirror frame cresting is formed from fully carved roses and a coquille shell motif with acanthus leaf fans. The side supports — S-curve rocaille volutes with flowers of varying sizes — anemones and roses — growing naturally from the ornamental ground. The console base is executed in identical aesthetics — a pierced rose and acanthus ornament with a central rosette.
