La forme appartient à la sculpture décorative de l’Historicisme et de la Belle Époque (Belle Époque, 1871–1914), lorsque la sculpture de genre représentant des scènes de la vie quotidienne et de l’enfance était extrêmement prisée en France, en Allemagne et en Autriche.
